Handy Fest 2013: ‘You couldn’t have asked for anything better’

The W.C. Handy Blues and Barbecue Festival is over, but its memory lingers as organizers look back over the weeklong event calling it highly successful.
“We don’t have the numbers in yet, but we had a successful (festival)” with many thousands attending, said Jeremy Myers, festival chairman.
“We had great bands and the weather, you couldn’t have asked for anything better,” he said.
Audubon Mill Park “was packed … all the way from the stage to the back of the park at the riverfront and onto the street … it was packed. You couldn’t move around.”
Myers said the festival flourishes thanks to the support of sponsors and spectators. “It was great,” he said. “We have a great committee. We all work together and we have great volunteers. We couldn’t do it without all of these people.”
