Become a Volunteer

The W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival returns June 15-18, along the downtown Henderson riverfront, with a standout line-up of performers and events. We hope you’ll get involved as a volunteer for this monumental community event! This email includes details about volunteering and an online link for easy and convenient volunteer registration. Please share with friends and family who also might like to get involved.

Volunteer Role Descriptions

Half Pot Raffle Java
Walk the crowd and sell half-pot tickets. Stationary job selling raffle tickets for various prizes. Join the assembly line to assist in making Java Shakes.



Ask festival goers to take a brief survey using an iPad.

Van Drivers

Transport musical acts and equipment to and from the festival. Must be 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license.


Volunteer Sign In

Register volunteers and pass out t-shirts. Monitor a donation bucket.

Lemon Shake Up Stand
Help assemble made-to-order lemon shake ups and/or man the cash register. 

T-shirt for Volunteers

As a thank you to those who sign up to volunteer for 6 or more hours, you will receive a free Handy volunteer t-shirt when you arrive on site. Because of the sheer number of volunteers, we cannot take size requests, but we’ll do our best to accommodate all of our volunteers. Shirts are to be picked up at the volunteer sign-in booth before starting your shift.
